Christmas Card Accents

So I am back with a little update on the previous card shared. The previous one was absolutely fine, however this next one shows you how just a few little accents of glitter ribbon and glitter dots really sets the festive tone. I love the inexpensive glitter ribbon found at Dollarama and the Glitter dots (Elizabeth Crafts) are some of my favorite accents as they do not add bulk. Hope you like the little accents used to take this card up to the next level.

Snowflake Greeting Card

As promised here is the other Merry & Bright card I promised you. This one has a snowflake on it created with the same Spellbinders die templates as my previous post. This sparkling snowflake is made with felt, cardstock and beautiful diamond Dust glitter from Flora Craft. The Merry & Bright greeting is from Papertrey Ink. Hope you like it!

Merry & Bright Christmas Card!

Wow! We are at one month before Christmas! I am sure many of you are busy creating your Christmas greeting cards and some are even finished and yet others are just beginning. No matter what stage you are at I hope this card will bring you inspiration for a card, tag, scrapbook page, or gift bag décor.
The point of this creation aside from Christmas is to encourage you to make use of those products that you have purchased in the past and don't be afraid to combine them with new ones. Most magazines must stay with current product in their designs, as do I for projects that are being published, but what happens to those products that we all love and still have. Where is the inspiration for our most loved tools? For this design and more to come in the future I have decided to make use of some products that manufacturer may have discontinued but that many of us still have and want to use. After all we all have those favorites!
This card makes use of leftover scraps of paper for the banner/flag pieces, an embossing folder for the embossed dots, a Papertrey Ink stamp (love their stamps, and no I do not work for them), EK Success mini banner punch and a new SpellbindersTM die and an older favorite of mine. The new one, and still available is the Medallion 1 ShapeabilitiesTM  Die D-LitesTM  combined with one of my favorite snowflake die-template sets, the ShapeabilitiesTM Create A Flake 1. It is almost like they were made for each other - but couldn't be as one is current and one is not. The way the largest snowflake can be slipped underneath portions of the medallion is perfect! Perfect if you would like to have a removable ornament on your card or just simply perfect as a design element.
This is a simple card, yet I believe it to be elegant and effective at relaying the merriest of wishes! Keep tuned for another card using similar supplies but with an even frostier look!

Christmas Card Inspiration!

As promised, here is my card inspired by the Festive Decor Piece shown on the left and posted on November 1st. Instead of re-inventing the wheel I chose elements from the original canvas piece for use on my card. The die-cut letters on the card were inspired by the wooden JOY element (covered with printed cardstock) on the canvas. I used the tea bag fold medallion to represent the O in the word Joy and layered it onto a die-cut shape. The corner motif was accented further with the same glitter glue used on the brads in the center of the tea-bag folded medallions. The final element is the stamped word. So if you find yourself scrambling for design ideas for cards, take a look at some of the other pieces you have made and use elements of it on your cards. Online Class Inspiration!

As September 1st is the scheduled launch of Annie's online classes I will be providing a few sneak peeks of some of the projects that can be created using the techniques taught in my Fabulous Paper Folds class (yes, that is now the official title) This creation also involves a tea bag folding technique that can be used on cards, scrapbook pages, canvases, gift packaging and tags.  You could even use the tea bag folded tree as ornaments on a full size tree.  The possibilities are endless!  For more info on the Fabulous Paper Folds class head on over to Annie's online classes.

Gift Card Holder

As promised, here is the inside view of the greeting card posted yesterday. To create the base card simply cut cardstock 5 1/2" x 11", score at 4 1/4", 5 1/2" and 6 3/4".  Fold on the 5 1/2" score line and use a label die or die/punch of choice to cut an opening on the fold for the gift card. To finish, fold on the remaining score lines creating the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card. Adhere, sandwiching middle panel on inside of card. Narrow double-sided tape such as the 1/8" Sookwang tape works perfectly, allowing enough space for the gift card itself. I have often used these style of cards for movie passes as well, the type that you can get at Costco - I just fold them and insert.  They would work equally as well for a monetary gift.  Hope this helps with your gift giving!

Ivory Snowflake Christmas Card

Well two weeks and counting!  If you are looking for a quick Christmas card in non traditional colors here you go. This one uses brown and a beautiful ivory with a pearlescent golden glow (which is probably lost on screen). Simply cut a layer panel from snowflake print, wrap with ivory ribbon and add an additional touch of sheer brown ribbon. Die cut and layer snowflake (this one is Spellbinder's Create a Flake One), slightly fold the one snowflake upwards to create some dimension add a pretty brad (love these ones from Michaels wedding section) and you are done. This card is a gift card holder on the inside, so I will share the info on that in my next post.
I wanted to send my sincere thanks to all of the staff at Scrapbooker's Paradise north store for their assistance with yesterday's make and take and booksigning! It was a great event and I met some wonderful ladies who I believe have now caught the tea-bag folding bug!

Christmas Card & Gift Set

This ensemble (the card was posted previously) is a perfect way to extend your appreciation to those people who make a difference in your life. Possibly you have a snow angel - a wonderful person who shovels your walk just because, or a teacher/coach who goes above and beyond and as a result has made a difference in you or your child's life. Or for a hostess who has opened her home to you and made you feel welcome. We all or I hope we do, I know I am blessed to have many people that make a difference in my life. Sparkling Flake Christmas Card

Well in honor of the snow we received today I thought I would share this sparkling greeting, created with pretty paper and die cut snowflakes. If you find yourself behind on your Christmas card creations, this one is fairly quick. Add a greeting on the front if desired or place the greeting inside. This creation could also double for a winter birthday card.
I would like to invite anybody in the Calgary area to a craft fair that I am participating in on Saturday November 19th from 10 am to 3 pm. The location is the Edgemont Community Center 33 Edgevalley Circle N.W. Calgary, Alberta. I will have some handmade creations for sale along with my books Iris Folding for Christmas and Tea Bag Folding Through The Seasons. I will happily sign any books purchased. Hope to see you, I hear there are some wonderful vendors at this event! Snowflake Tea-Bag Fold Card

I had a great time participating in the Calgary Critter Crop organized by Sandra L. in support of the Calgary Humane Society yesterday. What a great group of ladies! I donated a make and take to the event and taught a tea-bag folding technique. They all did a great job and I could see that many had caught the tea-bag folding bug, as there were quite a few busy fingers folding circle shapes. This is one of the kits that was available for purchase. This card makes use of a Magenta rubber stamp to create the tea-bag folding papers, Memories midnight blue ink, Spellbinder's Create a Flake one for the snowflake, clear sugar beads to accent the snowflake, Sizzix embossing folder for the card base along with metallic rub-on creme to accent the raised embossing. This fold begins with the basic triangle fold and then continues on by folding the top layer up and under to the center fold at left and right sides. For further ideas and inspiration please check out my most recent book Tea Bag Folding Through The Seasons by clicking the cover at right. Christmas Iris Fold Card

Wanted to share this card with you and let you know that if you are in the Calgary, Alberta area I will be teaching a card class at Scrapbooker's Bliss on November 8th & 16th, please use the link for further information. Quick Change Christmas Card!

As promised, here is the leaves card from my last post transformed into a Christmas Card! A few rhinestone berries, gold foliage puched using a Martha Stewart punch, a bit of red ribbon and a splash of red cardstock and voila!. Quick Change Christmas Card!  This little exercise was done to encourage you to multipurpose your designs, its like a personal challenge and definitely helps kick start the creative process -- hope your like it and give it a try!

Christmas Tea Bag Fold Card

As promised, here is the Christmas card based on the design shown in yesterday's post. So if you need a little creative nudge just look to previous designs that you have made and make simple changes by choosing different papers, greetings and embellishments. It's a wonderful way to get more mileage in your card making adventures. It's also a great way to be able to make further use of those designs we really love. Just switch it up a bit! This design utilizes printed papers for the tea bag fold but you could always stamp your own. It's like using your previous designs as sketches, as you can see here, same design two different cards for different occasions. Enjoy!
