Floral Delight Card!

Stopping by with a delightful card that would be perfect for many occasions. The “happy” sentiment allows you to personalize on the inside by adding Birthday wishes or Anniversary wishes even retirement, as I said it would cover a variety of celebrations! The focal point began with a die  template from Studio Katia, the dotted square STK019. Then I created a flower using a Spellbinders die, the Anemone, using 4 layers, the bottom layer is only the outside ring and the inside gold piece was used on the second layer and then one complete red layer in the middle and first layer. The flower is very quick to come together, just slightly curl petals with a bone folder. To finish the flower I coloured a clear gem with a pink Copic marker. The leaves on this flower were created using a Stampin’ Up die template. The sentiment is a die-cut word placed on a die-cut stitched oval. I love my Stitched shapes from  Stampin’ Up and use them quite often. Many companies have their own version, I also recommend the stitched banner shapes from Tutti designs! This is an older designer paper which may be hard to find however there are so many beautiful papers on the market and probably in your stash, I encourage you to choose a floral print that inspires you! Sending a Hug Card

Sharing two slightly different versions of this card. One with the leaves and one without. Not sure which one I prefer. Do you have a preference? I have revisited an older technique using folded hexagon shapes to create a medallion or rosette. The best results are with double sided paper. This particular paper is an older line which most likely you will not be able to find however there are a treasure trove of papers that would look equally as nice. Check your own inventory of supplies and you could be pleasantly surprised! There are many die templates and punches that can be used to create your hexagon shapes, I have used a Spellbinder’s template. The embossing folder used is from Stampin’ Up. The leaves were punched using a Martha Stewart Crafts punch. The sentiment is Simple Strips from Taylored Expressions. Hope you have been inspired to create!

Christmas Card Inspiration!

For the next few weeks I am going to be providing some Christmas card inspiration. Some cards will be quick and simple and others may require a few more steps but I know the crunch that we can get into when trying to create our cards therefore none of these card designs will be extreme. I like to have a variety of cards to send, so I don't do just one design and then mass produce, instead I complete a few designs and make multiples of each. The other thing that I have tried to do this year is use what I have. Especially papers, so don't worry if the papers are discontinued you can still make some awesome cards with your beautiful papers from years gone by! Look at using up those bits and pieces from previous projects as well!

This inspiration card is a standard A2 size (5 1/2 x 4 1/4), in a top fold landscape orientation. The papers are red and ivory cardstock along with a pearl ivory cardstock. Fiskars mini scallop edge scissors have been used to create the decorative edge on the ivory strip. Layer the ivory strip followed by a red strip to the card front. Next stamp three ornaments using red ink and then fussy cut around each. The stamp is by Hero Arts. There are a multitude of beautiful ornament stamps and die templates on the market today, if you don't have this exact one, no worries, just grab what you have and stamp and cut it out three times. 

The ornament hanger has been created using office paper clips. Just take wire cutters and cut the paper clip in half and then trim to the desired size. Adhere the trimmed clip to the back of each ornament. Tie butcher's twine into a bow and adhere to the front of each ornament. Next layer the ornaments onto the card front using foam mounting tape.

To finish, stamp a sentiment (this one is from Stampin' Up) onto pearl ivory cardstock punch or cut out (this punch is a Fiskars tag punch) and attach to the card front using foam mounting tape.

Voila! Finished! This is a design in a basic form which is very festive. Stay tuned for my next post on what to do if you wish to take it just a step further without a lot of effort! I hope you are inspired to create today!

Paper Crafting Inspiration

Had a great time sharing some inspiration at the Happy Critter Crop yesterday (fundraising event for animal rescue) an event organized by Sandra Lavoie. Great job Sandra! I shared this little make and take with attendees at the crop. Here is a little tip, when you are looking for inspiration you don't always have to start on a big scale. Start small as shown with the 3-1/2-inch mini card on the right in the photo above and then you can always build on it as shown in the photo below with the 5-inch square card. I also find its a great way to create ensembles, adding the favor bag shown above on the left.

 

The supplies used to create the cards are Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink yellow ochre, Stampin' Up Flower Shop rubber stamp set and coordinating punch, Martha Stewart butterfly and leaf punches, Fiskars mini scallop edgers, Hero Arts sentiment stamp set LP253, Wonderfil thread, green cardstock, shimmer yellow gold cardstock, and white cardstock.

Quick and Cute Baby Card!

Just wanted to share this cute little card to welcome a new baby! I love the papers many companies have created with pocket scrapbooking in mind! Remember they are equally as fun for use on cards and mini books! This particular paper is from Imaginisce. This little card is created with a teal base card (Stampin' Up) then an embossed dot white layer. Banner accents adorn the left side of the printed panel. I also love banners, they are so easy to create from simply using scissors and cutting down the center and then from each corner to the center cut line or create using punches and die templates. Add a little bow accent to the printed panel and finish with a stamped sentiment. This sentiment is from the Stampin' Up petit pairs set, often it is possible to use a stamp that was meant for the inside, on the card front. Another way to multiply the uses of your stamps.

Pretty Little Gift Card!

I recently taught a cute little make and take at a crop to benefit a local animal rescue. Thought I would share it with you. (don't forget you can click on the picture for more detail) It's a simple design using one of my favorite flower die-templates! It is the Anemone die-template by Spellbinders. I used an 8 1/2 x 11-inch sheet of shimmer pink cardstock and firstly cut the sheet in half to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and then I cut each note card 2 3/4 x 5 1/2-inches. The stamps are from Stampin Up and coordinate with their scallop circle punch. The printed paper is from Michaels and coordinates beautifully with a Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder used on the white banner piece. Lastly the leaf is generated using a Martha Stewart punch. Hope you like it!

Stamped Tea Bag Medallion Card!

Hi all! I am participating in a blog hop today and thought I would share this card made with designer and friend Ann Butler's 1-inch Faux Quilting stamps from Unity. The quality of these stamps are great, producing wonderful stamped images! These stamps can be used in a variety of projects and surfaces. Quilting effects on fabric, paper, air dry clay - they all work wonderfully. I have chosen to create a tea-bag folded medallion to adorn a Christmas ornament. The stamps that I used are from two different sets - the 1" Diamond and Plaid and the 1" Doily Picnic sets. The ink used is the Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink from Clearsnap in Warm Red. I also encourage you to visit EZ-De's stamps designed by Ann as well as her ink line from Clearsnap. The ornament shape is the 2011 Heirloom Ornaments die set from  Spellbinder's TM and the embossing folder is the Snow Burst folder from Stampin' Up. This card is going to be the inspiration for some Christmas gift tags that are on the To Do list! Hope you like it!

Happy Birthday Card!

Just wanted to share this birthday card with you that I made for a friend recently. For those of you that enjoy tea bag folding, this design incorporates two tea bag folded rosettes that have been layered. Just use two different sizes of circles when folding. The wonderful layers underneath the rosette were created using one of my favorite Memory Box die templates. The leaf was created using an Elizabeth Craft Designs leaf die set which has three different sizes in the set - it's a go to leaf die for me. The tag is a Fiskars punch with a little flag accent created using an EK Success punch.The sentiment stamp is from Petit Pairs Stampin Up. Lastly, the cardstocks are Bazzill and the printed paper is Recollections. World Card Making Day!

Well I hope it's a wonderful day for each of you, full of inspiration and creativity! In honor of this special day I thought I would share this elegant but simple card and the instructions with you. What makes this card so simple is that it makes use of both sides of this beautiful printed paper from Kaisercraft -- Rapture. One side has these great 3 x 3-7/8 inch panels and the other is a beautiful floral print. I chose the Cherish panel for this card. Below are the instructions.
1. Form 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch side fold card from Bazzill cardstock.
2. Layer 4 x 5-1/4 inch panel of floral print cardstock.
3. Die-cut ivory pearl cardstock using Spellbinders Fleur de Lis rectangles die template (4 x 4-3/4 inch). Layer to card front.
4. Trim out Cherish panel and layer onto green cardstock leaving a slight margin. Layer this panel to card front using foam mounting squares.
5. Color heart rhinestone and four small rhinestones using Bic Mark-It pen (Tranquil Teal).
6. Adhere small rhinestones to four corners on die-cut panel.
7. Die-cut ivory heart using Stampin' Up Embosslits hearts die, adhere to top of Cherish panel followed by heart rhinestone.
8. Punch three hearts from green cardstock using Fiskars hand punch, adhere hearts to bottom of Cherish panel. *
9. Tie cream sheer ribbon in a bow and adhere to center bottom of panel on card front.
10. Decorate card inside as desired.
* Tip - apply 1/2-inch score tape to piece of green cardstock then punch hearts. Use a straight pin to assist in the removal of the tape liner and then with the straight pin still attached to the punched heart use the pin as a tool to place the heart on project. I like to keep a corsage style pin on hand for this.

Butterfly Wishes Card!

Firstly, I just want to thank my reader's for hanging in there with me, I know my posts have been few and far between. I am trying to regain my inspiration through a very difficult time. Hang in there with me - it is coming I promise.
For today's post I would like to challenge you to pull out those bits and pieces leftover from previous projects and create a card using them. It's actually kind of fun and is a good little nudge if you are looking for inspiration.
This card is simple but sweet, the butterflies (leftover pieces) are created using a Stampin Up die, a few little gems, the cardstock had pre-embossed dots on it, so no work or supplies needed there. The printed cardstock was a small leftover piece, I think it was Basic Grey probably discontinued. But that doesn't matter as the challenge is for you to use YOUR scraps, using this design somewhat like you would use a card sketch. The decorative square (Spellbinders) was from a previous project and the dotted square was the leftover piece from cutting a frame. A little sentiment from the Stampin Up Petite Pairs set (love this set) along with olive pastel chalk ink and you are good to go! Butterfly Wishes All Occasion Card

My sincere apologies for being absent for so long! The road of life all of a sudden merged without notice from four lanes into one. I am sure many of you can relate.
To get back in to action here I have chosen to share a card that was inspired by the paper itself. This beautiful paper from Pink Paislee inspired the use of the Beautiful Wings Embosslits from Stampin Up and the Tim Holtz dress form die from Sizzix. The Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder by Provocraft added a beautiful texture to the dress form as well as mimicked the pattern in the paper layered beneath. The beautiful rhinestone flourishes that are so popular were the perfect compliment to the neckline on the dress form as well as for use on the butterflies. White crepe paper slightly gathered became the skirt along with a paper waistband complete with a butterfly embellishment. I purposely did not include a sentiment on the front of this card as I felt that it could be used for a variety of occasions and I wanted the design on the front to be the focus. Once chosen for a specific occasion I will include the sentiment on the inside.
